Regular laundry detergent contains fillers and softeners that clog the microscopic pores of the Gore-Tex membrane. The result? The fabric stops breathing, sweat stays inside, you feel like you're in a plastic bag. High temperature additionally damages the membrane structure.
Insulation loss
Down or synthetic insulation can clump together with improper washing. Aggressive spinning destroys the structure of thermal insulation fibres. The jacket loses its heating properties — where there was warmth, cold spots appear.

Modern technical fabrics use special dyes. Too aggressive detergents or high temperature cause intense colours to lose their depth. A red jacket becomes pink, black turns grey — especially in areas most exposed to friction.

How do I wash a Gore-Tex ski jacket?
The key rule: no regular detergent and no fabric softener. Fillers clog the membrane's micropores and the jacket stops breathing - you feel like you're in a plastic bag. At home, use a membrane wash (like Nikwax Tech Wash), wash at 30°C, almost no spin. We do the same, then restore the DWR impregnation afterwards so water beads up again.
Does washing remove the factory waterproofing?
Every DWR coating wears out over time - water stops beading and starts soaking in. Washing alone won't renew it, but after washing we apply professional DWR impregnation and reactivate it with gentle heat. We run a water-drop test: if water still soaks in, we repeat. The jacket comes back repelling water and snow like the day you bought it.

How long does ski clothing washing take?
A jacket is normally ready in 48 hours. After the season, when you drop off everything at once, we agree on a set date. If you're rushing before a trip, we have a 24h express option. We also offer pickup and delivery across Lublin, and we're used to English-speaking customers - so you just hand over the bag and pick it up ready.

Yes. You don't have to bring a full set - we wash jackets, ski pants and jumpsuits separately, each with its own line in the price list. Every piece gets the same care: membrane detergent, low temperature, controlled drying and DWR impregnation at the end. Families often drop everything off after the holidays at once - that's the easiest way.
