A blazer is more than just clothing
A well-tailored blazer accompanies you through your most important moments — during a job interview, signing a contract, meeting a client for the first time. It shapes the first impression before you even say a word.
Over time, even the finest blazer loses its freshness. Sweat, coffee, city dust — everyday life leaves its marks. And then the question arises: wash it yourself and take the risk, or entrust it to someone who truly knows how to care for it?
Why home washing ruins blazers
Shrinkage and felting
Excessively high temperatures cause wool fibres to felt and shrink — a blazer can lose up to 2-3 sizes. The lining and outer fabric shrink unevenly, leading to puckering and pulling of the material.
Loss of shape
Aggressive spinning in a home washing machine warps shoulder pads, bends lapels, and destroys the blazer's tailored structure. The result? Crooked shoulders, flattened lapels, and a loss of the elegant silhouette.
Colour loss
The wrong detergent or excessive temperature causes colours to fade, while detergent residue builds up in the folds of the fabric. Dark blazers are especially prone to losing their deep, uniform shade.
At Gorące Żelazko laundry, every blazer goes through an 8-step washing process with individually selected programme, temperature, and detergents. We control every parameter — from temperature accurate to a single degree, to spin speed. That is why we safely wash fabrics that a home machine would ruin.
8 steps to a perfectly clean blazer
Every blazer goes through a full professional care process — from fabric inspection to quality control.
Fabric inspection

We start with a thorough examination of your blazer. We check the fabric composition, identify the type and age of each stain, and assess the condition of seams and buttons. Based on this, we create an individual washing plan tailored to your specific blazer.

Stain removal

Every stain is a different challenge. Sweat, food, ink, and deodorant stains each require different agents and techniques. Our specialists treat each stain individually — spot by spot, using products matched to the type of soiling and fabric.

Professional washing

The blazer goes into a professional washing machine with precise temperature, water volume, and drum speed control. We select the programme, detergent, and agitation individually — wool is washed at a maximum of 30°C, in a protective mesh bag with minimal spinning.

Multi-stage rinsing

We perform 2-3 rinsing cycles with gradually decreasing temperature — this prevents thermal shock and fabric shrinkage. At the end, we apply a conditioner matched to the fibre type, which restores elasticity and softness to the material.

Shape-forming drying

Wet fabric is pliable — it takes the shape it dries in. That is why drying is a critical moment. We hang the blazer on a thick hanger with contoured shoulders, in a ventilated room away from heat sources. We never use a tumble dryer for wool.

Smoothing

A professional steam station operating at 3-5 bar pressure allows us to smooth the fabric without direct iron contact. We steam every part of the blazer — lapels, collar, sleeves — restoring their full form and eliminating creases.

Precision pressing

Pressing a blazer is an art. We use a sleeve board for sleeves (avoiding unwanted creases), a pressing cushion for shoulders, and a seam roll for hard-to-reach areas. Every element is pressed at the right temperature, through a pressing cloth — so wool does not develop a shine.

Quality control

Before we hand back your blazer, it undergoes a double quality check — we verify cleanliness, pressing quality, and symmetry of lapels and sleeves. We pack it on a wide hanger in a breathable garment bag that protects our work during transport.

Frequently asked questions about blazer washing
Answers to what clients ask us most - washing at home, price, dry cleaning and pressing.
Can I wash a blazer in a washing machine?
You can try, but the risk is real. Wool shrinks in hot water, spinning warps the shoulder pads, and lapels lose their shape. A home machine can't hold temperature to the exact degree - we can. If you do wash at home, use a wool programme, cold water and a mesh bag, then dry flat. With a pricier blazer, it's not worth the gamble.
How much does blazer cleaning cost in Lublin?
Blazer washing starts from 47 PLN. The final price depends on the fabric, condition and number of stains - heavier wool or a heavily soiled blazer costs a little more, so we quote after seeing it, with no surprises at pickup. If you'd rather bring the full suit with trousers, it's a separate line in our full price list.
I don't speak Polish - can you still help me?
Yes. We're used to serving Lublin's international students and professionals, and you can arrange everything with us in English. Just call or drop by ul. Wrońska 2, tell us the fabric and any stains, and we'll take it from there. Clear price, clear timing, no language stress.
How do I wash a blazer without losing its shape?
A blazer loses its cut when water and spinning break down its inner structure - shoulder pads, canvassing, lapel roll. That's hard to control at home. We wash at a maximum of 30°C with minimal spin, dry on a contoured hanger, then restore the shape with steam and pressing through a cloth. Shoulders keep their line, lapels stay crisp.
What's the difference between washing and dry cleaning a blazer?
Traditional dry cleaning uses solvents. We use wet cleaning - washing in water with professional pH-controlled agents. It's gentler on wool and cashmere, eco-friendly, and better at lifting sweat and odours that solvents sometimes leave behind. Your blazer comes back clean, soft and without any chemical smell.
How long does it take, and can you pick it up?
A blazer is usually ready in 48 hours. Big meeting tomorrow? We have 24h express. We also offer door-to-door pickup and delivery across Lublin, so you don't have to make two trips - we agree the timing when you drop it off and stick to it.
