Your home washing machine can't tell silk from polyester. It washes everything on the same cycle, at the same temperature, with the same detergent. But silk needs pH 5-6, chiffon can't handle spinning, and glued-on sequins melt at just 35 degrees. One mistake and a 500 PLN dress ends up in the bin.

Reactive dyes on silk and cotton migrate above 30°C. Darker parts of the dress bleed into lighter ones. A black dress turns graphite after a few washes with optical brighteners. Pastel pink shifts to salmon.

Wet chiffon loses its strength – one tug and you've got a hole. Velvet crushed in the drum won't recover its pile. Satin loses its mirror sheen from rubbing against other clothes. Wet viscose lining loses 50% of its strength.

Heat-bonded sequins come off at just 35-40°C – EVA glue dissolves in warm water. Faux pearls lose their sheen in contact with alkaline detergent. Metallic threads oxidize from bleach. One wash and an evening dress loses half its embellishments.

How much does dress cleaning cost in Lublin?
Cleaning a simple dress starts from 50 PLN. Evening, cocktail and pleated dresses, along with silk and heavily embellished pieces, are priced individually - sequins, lace or a long train take far more work than plain cotton. We give an exact price once we've seen the dress, and full ranges are in our price list.
Can I wash a dress in the washing machine?
It depends on the fabric. A simple cotton or polyester dress - yes, on a delicate cycle. Silk, chiffon, velvet or a sequined dress - better not. A home machine washes everything the same way, while these fabrics need a different temperature, pH and zero spinning. One mistake can ruin a favourite piece for good.
How do I wash a silk dress without ruining it?
Silk is hand-washed in cold water (up to 20°C) with a gentle, slightly acidic pH 5-6 detergent, no soaking and no spinning. Dry it flat, in the shade, away from radiators, and press through a cloth from the reverse side. Sounds like a lot? That's why many people leave silk to us - we test the method before we touch the dress.
How do you wash a dress with sequins?
Sequins are often the trap. Heat-bonded ones fall off at just 35-40°C because the glue dissolves in warm water. We wash these dresses in cool water, inside a protective mesh, with no spinning - and instead of ironing we steam gently, never touching the sequins with an iron. Every bead and sequin stays exactly where it belongs.
Can you remove a wine or makeup stain?
Usually yes - as long as the stain hasn't already been washed in hot water or ironed, which sets it. We treat wine with enzymes and citric acid, never boiling water. Makeup we first dissolve on the oil side, then draw out the pigment. The sooner you bring the dress in, the better the result. Not sure? Just ask us in English.
How long does it take, and can you pick it up?
A dress is usually ready in 48 hours, and when time is tight we offer 24h express. We also provide door-to-door pickup and delivery across Lublin, so you can drop off your dress and collect it ready with no extra trips. We agree the timing when you drop it off, so you're set for your event.
