Your tie speaks before you do
In the courtroom, at a client meeting, during a presentation — the tie is the first element of your outfit that draws attention. A clean, well-maintained tie signals professionalism and attention to detail. A neglected one undermines credibility.
The problem is that a tie is not just a simple piece of fabric. Three layers — outer fabric, stiffening interlining, and tipping — react to water and heat in completely different ways. That is why home cleaning methods end with water spots, deformation, and color loss.
Why home cleaning ruins ties
Water spots on silk
A drop of water dissolves the natural finishing agents in silk and creates a visible ring — a halo — as it dries. This is not dirt but a permanent change in fabric structure. Removing water spots requires even rewetting and controlled drying — practically impossible at home.
Shape loss and deformation
A bias-cut tie owes its elasticity to the weave geometry. Water loosens tension in the silk, while the wool interlining can felt and shrink. The result: a thinner, stiffer tie that will not form a proper knot and twists on itself.
Fading and color migration
Many silk ties have colors that are not fully set. Water causes dye migration — darker colors bleed into lighter ones. This is irreversible. Alkaline detergents (pH above 9) break down the peptide bonds in silk fiber.
At Gorące Żelazko laundry, every tie goes through a 6-step cleaning process with material identification, color fastness testing, and method selection tailored to the specific fabric. We clean silk, wool, polyester, and linen — safely and effectively.
6 steps to a perfectly clean tie
Every tie goes through an individual process — from fabric diagnostics to quality control.
Inspection and diagnostics

We check the fabric composition, assess the condition of the stiffening interlining, and map every stain. We perform a color fastness test on a hidden area. Based on this, we select the cleaning method tailored to your specific tie.

Spot stain removal

Every stain requires a different approach. We remove grease with petroleum solvent, wine with citric acid, sweat with enzymatic treatment. We work spot by spot, from the reverse side, with a clean absorbent cloth placed beneath the stain.

Main cleaning

Depending on the fabric, we choose dry cleaning, professional wet cleaning, or steam method. Silk is washed at a maximum of 25°C with a neutral pH detergent. The tie is always in a protective bag with minimal agitation.

Shaping and drying

We dry ties exclusively flat — never on a hanger, as the weight of wet fabric stretches the bias cut. We insert a cardboard shaping template between the layers and dry at room temperature for 6-12 hours.

Pressing and finishing

We use a professional tie press with Teflon-lined plates. Silk is pressed at 120-140°C, polyester at 150°C. To finish — light steaming from a distance that restores the natural sheen of silk.

Quality control

We check cleanliness, shape, color, and elasticity. We verify that the center seam retained its movement. We pack the tie on a cardboard template in tissue paper that protects it during transport.

What our clients say
Google Maps reviews from clients who entrusted us with their ties.
"I had a coffee stain on my Marinella silk tie — I tried wiping it with water and got a halo. At Gorące Żelazko, they not only removed the stain, but the tie looks better than before the incident. Now I bring my entire collection for seasonal refresh."
"I wear a tie every day and after a year each one loses its freshness. The laundry recommended steam cleaning instead of full washing — my ties come back refreshed, odor-free, with restored sheen. Professional service and reasonable prices."
